Omnia mutantur, nihil interit

These works stem from a fascination with the ambivalent documents through which disappeared and lost artworks live on. Some of these lost works function as the base of these new works; they adopt their size and in a way their fate. The works are gum prints of shadows, which are coloured with oil paint; a technique that creates an unstable picture that disintegrates and disappears over time. By photographing the works in situ and printing these photographs as platinum/palladium prints a highly stable but ambivalent documentation is created through which questions are raised about the double value of the image as document and as an aesthetic object.
